TUNNELS OF PERIL

CHAPTER 66: TUNNELS OF PERIL
You dash into the tunnels, your heart racing as the mutant zombie’s growls echo behind you. Darkness wraps around you like a shroud, the only light a faint, flickering glow from the fire above. Each step echoes ominously as you navigate the labyrinthine passageways, the air growing colder and more oppressive.

The tunnel walls are slick with moisture, and ancient debris crunches underfoot. The sound of the mutant’s pursuit fades, but the relief is short-lived as you hear other noises—skittering, distant snarls, and the unsettling drip of water. You realize you’re not alone in these depths.

Turning a corner, you catch sight of something unexpected: a makeshift barricade, constructed from old crates and broken furniture, blocking the path ahead. Someone has been here before. Your gut tightens with apprehension. Could there be survivors down here? Or worse, more bandits?

Your mind races with possibilities. The barricade seems fragile, but moving it might draw attention. As you weigh your options, an ominous rumbling vibrates through the tunnel, sending dust and pebbles cascading from the ceiling. The fire above must be causing structural instability.

Time is running out. You need to decide your next move quickly. The potential for danger looms in every direction, but indecision could be fatal.
All Choices That Were Available:
  • 1. Clear the barricade to search for any survivors who might need help.
  • 2. Leave the barricade untouched and move deeper into the tunnels alone.
  • 3. Set a trap using debris to delay any potential followers and then run.
  • 4. Attempt to find an alternate route that bypasses the barricade without disturbing it.
