THE BEAST'S CHALLENGE

CHAPTER 51: THE BEAST'S CHALLENGE
The Abomination's roar shakes the air, a chilling reminder of its brute strength. You stand resolute, drawing a deep breath, your heart pounding in defiance rather than fear. "Wait!" you shout, stepping forward with your hands raised, hoping the beast retains some semblance of humanity. The survivor beside you shoots you a disbelieving glance, but remains silent.

The Abomination pauses, its monstrous body twitching with pent-up aggression. Its eyes, however, flicker with a hint of confusion. "We're not your enemies," you continue, your voice steady despite the quaking ground. For a heartbeat, the world holds its breath with you.

The beast snorts, a sound like a freight train derailing, but it doesn't attack. Instead, it seems to study you, torn between its rage and something deeper, a flicker of recognition perhaps. You look back at the survivor, who seems as stunned as you are by the beast's hesitation.

But the moment breaks as a distant gunshot echoes through the ravine, a bandit's stray bullet zinging past. The Abomination's eyes blaze with rage, the brief truce shattered. It lunges forward, fists raised high, ready to pulverize anything in its path.

You scramble back, adrenaline spiking as you try to form a plan. The Abomination's immense shadow looms over you, its roar drowning out all thought.
All Choices That Were Available:
  • 1. Attempt to lead the creature away from the survivor to keep him safe.
  • 2. Use the confusion to push the survivor into the Abomination's path and escape.
  • 3. Grab a nearby flare and ignite it, hoping the light will confuse the beast.
  • 4. Dive behind a boulder, searching for a way to exploit the terrain.
