CHAPTER 130: INTO THE ABYSS
INTO THE ABYSS
With determination coursing through your veins, you know what you must do. Ignoring the dangers, you grip the splintering beam and begin your descent into the darkness below. The cries of the zombies echo ominously, a chilling reminder of the dangers lurking in the shadows.
The structure creaks under your weight, and for a heart-stopping moment, you're unsure if it will hold. Yet, you push forward, inch by precarious inch, towards the driver. He's clinging desperately to a twisted piece of metal, eyes wide with fear, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
"Hang on!" you shout over the cacophony of collapsing debris and distant moans. His gaze meets yours, a flicker of hope amidst the terror. You reach out, straining, your fingers brushing against his. Just as you grasp his hand, the structure shudders violently, threatening to send you both plummeting.
Your heart pounds in your ears as you pull with all your might, adrenaline lending you strength. Slowly, painfully, you haul the driver back up onto the beam. He collapses beside you, coughing and trembling, but alive.
There's no time to celebrate. The ceiling above groans ominously, cracks spider-webbing across the surface. You glance upward, dread pooling in your gut. The entire building could come down at any moment. The driver looks at you, his gratitude evident even amidst the chaos.
"We need to get out of here," you say, urgency sharpening your voice. He nods, but before you can move, a deafening crack resounds through the air. A massive chunk of ceiling plummets toward you, casting a shadow over your escape.
